The Ultimate 5 Day Itinerary for Arizona

by admin

I wouldn’t blame you for thinking a dream destination only includes some tropical, distant location. Until you start exploring some local jewels. Jewels like Arizona. Arizona has abundant trendy, relaxed, and adventure-based activities, and I experienced a bit of everything on my 5-day trip to the state.

Day 1 – Arrival and Some Exploring

Arriving in Phoenix at 09:00 pm, I wasn’t going to miss the opportunity to explore the city’s relaxed nightlife and food scene. Ziggy’s Magic Pizza Shop made it onto the itinerary. Besides the 5-star pizza, the atmosphere was impeccable. The retro decor and classic menu were eclipsed by a hidden door leading you to a trendy bar. A fun night all-round!

Day 2 – Phoenix and Sedona

Yes, alcohol was involved at Ziggy’s, so Day 2 is not a morning day. We’re still in downtown Phoenix though, so lunch at Lylo’s Swim Club was a to-do. Think picture-perfect tropical dining – minus the beach – and you’ll be envisioning Lylo’s Swim Club. The epitome of perfection.

Later in the day, we made our way to Sedona, stopping for some relaxed wine tasting in Cornville. Some notable mentions include Page Spring Cellars, Alcántara Vineyards, and Javelina Vineyards.

When we arrived in Sedona that evening, we had dinner at Mariposa, followed by drinks downtown.

Day 3: All Day Sedona

Sedona, AZ is a fantastic mix of phenomenal natural sites and a vibrant art community. While we were there, we focused on absorbing the natural wonders: taking three hikes and making time for kayaking.

On our first full day in Sedona, we hiked Cathedral rock – a hard hike – and Devils bridge (medium hike). Unfortunately, we missed the Birthing Cave, but maybe next time. If you have time, definitely go.

Day 4: Sedona/Page

Today we planned on leaving Sedona to travel to Page. But, before leaving the town, kayaking and more hiking made it onto the itinerary. I mean when you have views for days, hiking is going to make it onto the list. This time it was a refreshing Antelope Canyon hike later in the day, preceded by kayaking on Lake Powell.

Day 5: Back to Phoenix and Flight

Day 5 was our exploring day on the way back to Phoenix. The day started with a super easy 10-minute hike on Horseshoe Bend, which has spectacular views of the Grand Canyon. Since we had a 10 pm flight from Phoenix, we decided to leave early to have time to explore Scottsdale.
